Streamlined access to the tools you need
DC payroll bundle
Includes DC Census/Indicative, DC Deferrals, and DC Loans in a single package.
DC census/indicative
Participant demographic and indicative data for plan sponsors and their support partners.
Financial data exchange
Access to a data-sharing ecosystem utilizing industry-standard protocols.
DC participant balances
A real-time snapshot of participant workplace balances, including vested balances, plan balances, investment balances, and more.
DC deferrals
Instant client information of changes to their plans’ participant deferral rates.
DC loans
Real-time data on any newly created loans or changes to loan terms.
DC participant YTD contributions
A comprehensive view of how much participants have added to their accounts and what they’re on track to add each year.
DC participant eligibility
Quick snapshots of participant plan eligibility.
Before APIs, we managed multiple SFTP files and hoped nothing broke at cutoff. With the API, our deferrals, loans, and demographic data flow automatically and validate at the field level. We’ve reduced rework, eliminated late payroll adjustments, and improved participant trust because changes appear the same day.

FAQ
FAQ
An API (application programming interface) is a secure, standardized framework that allows for two systems to exchange information automatically. Instead of manual files, emails, or custom integrations, APIs allow systems to “talk” to each other in real time using agreed-upon rules. Examples include travel booking and "login with" functionality.
APIs enable providers to integrate more easily with plan sponsors, payroll providers, advisors and TPAs. This reduces operational friction; improves data accuracy; and supports faster, more scalable services without rebuilding core systems.
APIs can enable near-real-time data updates (e.g., contributions, eligibility, balances), reduce delays caused by batch files or manual processing, and support more seamless digital experiences across platforms. This results in fewer errors, faster resolution times, and a more modern experience for sponsors and participants.
- Security by design: Empower’s API platform is built with security as a core principle, aligned to the controls defined in our enterprise security policies. We use best-in-class security capabilities and a security-first methodology, supported by continuous monitoring to help detect anomalous activity and potential weaknesses
- Strong authentication and authorization based on modern API standards: Our API security standards align with industry standards. OWASP API Security guidance and include OAuth 2.0 with OpenID Connect, and the early adoption of Financial-grade API (FAPI) standards.
- Security in depth: Our API gateway, web application firewall (WAF), and network segmentation provide protections such as DDoS mitigation, rate limiting, throttling, and payload validation to help defend against common API threats on top of our zero-trust architecture foundation.
