General privacy policy

This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data, including our use of cookies, and outlines your rights. Some details depend on your relationship with Empower or where you live.

Exercise your opt-out rights

While we do not share your personal information to third parties for monetary gain, some state laws have a broader definition of “sale” and “share” that may be applicable to use of certain third-party cookies, tags, pixels or web beacons (collectively, “cookies”) on our websites or mobile applications. In this context, Empower and our advertising partners use cookies, and the advertising identifier associated with your mobile or internet-connected device.

You may opt out of certain uses of your personal information as described in our privacy policy in one of the following ways (Empower will continue to share your data with service providers as permitted by law and described in the Privacy Policy): 


Manage your privacy preferences for Empower

Manage privacy preferences universally for your device or browser

Use Global Privacy Control (GPC) to manage your device or browser's privacy settings. Visit the GPC site to learn how to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. These settings apply only to your current device or browser. You may need to opt out again if you switch devices or browsers.

Submit a privacy request

Where required by law, Empower honors requests, such as those to to access or delete your personal information, subject to applicable exemptions. 

Who can submit a request? These rights are currently available to residents of California, Connecticut, Minnesota, New Hampshire, Oregon, Rhode Island, Texas, and Virginia. 

If you are a participant in a retirement plan, stock plan, or consumer-directed health plan, contact your plan sponsor (employer or former employer) to submit your request. 

If you have an Empower Personal Dashboard™ account, you may submit a request via a Personal Dashboard support ticket. If you are a resident of California or Texas, you can also submit a request by filling out the privacy request form and emailing [email protected]
