Name change

Introduction

On August 1, 2022, Empower¹ announced a number of changes that will further strengthen recognition and customer alignment with the Empower brand. Certain operating companies within Empower's corporate group have been renamed to include “Empower” in their legal names.

In addition, certain investment products offered by Empower, including mutual funds historically marketed under the “Great-West Funds” brand, are also being renamed to incorporate “Empower” into the product names in place of “Great-West." Empower’s in-house institutional investment research and advisory division has also been renamed “Empower Investments”.

Finally, beginning on or around October 3, 2022, Empower is renaming certain entities acquired from Prudential Financial as another step toward strengthening alignment with the Empower brand.

References to these names in Empower’s websites, plan documents, marketing materials, communications, notices, statements, forms and newly issued contracts will be updated to reflect the new names through a rolling process over the coming months. Empower will continue to be the public facing brand name used to refer to our enterprise in most circumstances. Also note that the name of Empower Retirement, LLC is not changing.

The change in company and product names will have minimal impact on existing clients, plan participants, account holders, policies holders and vendors of Empower. A: Empower is making these changes in connection with its ongoing development of the Empower brand. The changes will align legal entity names with the Empower brand to strengthen brand identity and recognition.

Q: Are these changes the result of a change in Empower’s business, ownership or corporate structure?

A: No. These changes are not being made in connection with a change in Empower’s business, ownership or corporate structure.

Q: Is any action required from plan sponsors, participants or account holders?

A: No. No action is required in connection with the name changes. Empower is providing notice of these changes for awareness only.

Q: Do these changes impact existing contracts with Empower?

A: No, existing contracts with Empower are not impacted by the name changes and remain in force.

Q: When will these changes occur?

A: The name changes of most of the companies are being executed on August 2, 2022. The name change of PRIAC will be executed on October 3, 2022, and implemented thereafter. The new names will be implemented across Empower’s systems, websites and documents through a rolling process following the execution date.

Q: Do the name changes of Empower's investment products affect their underlying investment strategies, goals or management?

A: No. The investment product name changes do not impact the products' investment strategies, goals or how they are managed. Also, ticker symbols and CUSIPs for all products will remain the same.

Q: Do the name changes impact the Empower companies’ or investment products’ EIN numbers, CUSIP numbers, bank account information or other identifiers?

A: No. There will be no changes to any of the Empower companies’ and products’ EINs, CUSIPs or other identifiers.

This includes both general account and separate account insurance products that were historically marketed and sold under the "Great-West" brand name. Outstanding contracts related to these products will not be impacted.
