GREENWOOD VILLAGE, Colo., Sept.1, 2020 – Empower Retirement has been recognized by InvestmentNews as a 2020 Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Awards finalist.

Empower, the nation’s second largest retirement plan provider,1 along with 14 other firms, has been chosen from more than 120 nominations by a committee of InvestmentNews representatives and judges from the advice business. The firms are recognized for their ability to inspire others from diverse backgrounds to join, flourish and bring their true selves to work in the financial services industry.

This is the third annual InvestmentNews Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion recognition program. It aims to tell the story of individuals and firms using their success, leadership skills, and willingness to implement and advocate for diversity and inclusion within the financial advisory industry.

“The focus on diversity and inclusion (D&I) is not new to Empower Retirement; however, the recent examples of racial injustice in our society are a stark reminder that we need to continue building on what we have in place to positively impact our associates, clients and communities,” said Edmund F. Murphy III, Empower Retirement President and CEO.

Empower, along with the other firms and individuals making the third annual Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion list, is highlighted in the Aug. 31 issue of InvestmentNews and online at DandIIN.com.

“The initiatives highlighted by these honored firms serve as examples of what businesses within the financial advice industry should be striving for when it comes to creating a diverse and inclusive culture,” said Liz Skinner, special projects editor of InvestmentNews.
